Offering a wide range of colors, the LED can be used in interior automobile lighting, large-format signages and consumer devices.
Vishay has a new tricolor LED that's designed for interior automotive lighting, RGB displays and backlighting. The VLMRGB6112 LED comprises of separate red, green and blue LED chips packed into a 3.5mm x 2.8mm x 1.45mm PLCC-6 surface-mount package.
The VLMRGB6112 allows control of each chip, making available colors as defined in the gamut triangle area in the CIE 1931 color space through color mixing. The LED utilises AllnGaP and InGaN technologies that deliver luminous intensity to 1,800mcd at 20mA and features a ±60° of half intensity.
The LED is targeted at custom lighting in automobiles, large-format message and video display boards, backlighting in consumer devices and appliances and accent and decorative lighting.
The VLMRGB612 operates in a temperature range of -40°C to 110°C and offers corrosion robustness and sulfur resistance (H₂S) and uses a UV-stable, diffused silicone casting compound.
The LED is AEC-Q101-qualified, offers 2msl (Moisture Sensitivity Level) and withstands up to 2kV ESD voltages in accordance with JESD22-A114-B. Compatible with IR reflow soldering, the device is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
