Nextrom has developed the OFC 35SF fibre proof tester that features extended tension ranges for tensile testing and large diameter proof testing using integrated bending wheels to test fibre strength in eight directions. The resolution in the OFC 35SF is maintained with multiple tension gauges for different fibre ranges.

During proof testing, the fibre pay-off is tested by loading it between two capstans with a particular force and then taken-up with a dancer. To meet the requirements of specialty fibres, it is necessary to take into account high-quality take-ups and pay-offs, flexible configurations, quick set-ups, and simple operation and maintenance.

The OFC 35SF has servo motors, tension sensors, and specially designed dancer that guarantees effective winding at high speeds, Nextrom said. A cutting plan can be keyed in to the unit so that it stops when the desired length is reached.

Specifications of the OFC35SF Speed: 300m/min Tensile pulling force (machine): 5–50N Fibre diameter (glass) at 100kpsi tension: 0.100–0.300mm Bending wheel diameter: 10–75mm Number of bending directions: 8

Extended ranges optional with additional tension gauges and fibre pulleys: Low range Tensile pulling force (machine): 0.8–5.0N Fibre diameter (glass) at 100kpsi tension: 0.040–0.100mm
