Three test & measurement vendors take up 45% share of the Indonesian market that's growing rapidly on the back of government initiatives.
Technavio, a technology research and advisory company, has announced the six leading vendors in the T&M market in Indonesia. They also list 7 other prominent vendors that are expected to impact the market during the forecast period of their report (2016 to 2020).
Government initiatives drive market
The researcher expects Internet and smartphone penetration in Indonesia to increase on the back of government initiatives, such as the Indonesia Broadband Plan. With this plan, that country is aiming to bring Internet access to at least 30% of the population by the end of 2019. Technavio also believes mobile broadband penetration in Indonesia will reach 100% that year. This should lead to increased investment in the communication sector, thereby propelling demand for wireless test equipment.
The Indonesian government has also increased the defense budget to $18.7 billion in 2016, up from $2.5 billion in 2005. This, and the increased focus on manufacturing weapons in Indonesia itself is expected to propel demand for T&M market in Indonesia.
“Three key players, namely, Keysight Technologies, Rohde & Schwarz and Anritsu dominate the T&M market in Indonesia,” said Anju Ajaykumar, a lead T&M research analyst from Technavio. According to Ajaykumar, the 3 companies account for over 45% of the total market share.
“The entry of new players is restricted as the entry barriers in the market are high,” added Ajaykumar. “Moreover, the competition among the market vendors is expected to intensify during the forecast period, primarily because of increased investments and rapid technological advancements taking place in various industries in Indonesia.”
