Electric battery and powertrain technology provider XING Mobility has designed and delivered their most modular electric vehicle (EV) battery pack. In a new motion graphic released recently, the company illustrates the incredibly effective thermal control capabilities of their patented Immersion Cooling technology, IMMERSIO, and reveals how the unique cooling method achieves a greater degree of flexibility than any other battery pack on the market.

The innovative energy storage system works by submerging lithium-ion battery cells directly in a non-conductive engineered coolant fluid, which are then encased in a robust isolation shield, allowing the battery pack to entirely remove the need for complicated pipe cooling and heavy battery enclosures. This method guarantees a high level of safety due to the fire suppression properties of the fluid and allows the battery to discharge and charge at much higher rates due to superior temperature control of the cells.


The first commercialized example of immersion cooling in the electric vehicle market, IMMERSIO™ facilitates highly compact, modular packaging, that stacks like LEGO to achieve unprecedented flexibility in the size and shape of the battery pack. This intelligent battery solution is well suited to low volume, high mix applications, as the same module can be utilized in a huge number of different applications, which drastically reduces custom battery development and tooling costs for vehicle manufacturers looking to convert existing vehicle fleets to all-electric power.
