NEC has concluded cyber defence training joined by 50 government officials from Thailand’s Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA).

NEC has completed cyber defence training of over 50 government officials from Thailand’s Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA). The training was held in Bangkok from Dec. 6-9 and participated by officials from ETDA and other government agencies.

The ETDA, which is under jurisdiction of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), is responsible for cyber security in Thailand. The agency operates ThaiCERT, the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), which handles computer security incidents in the country.

The cyber defence training was conducted to help system administrators learn how to handle cyber attacks effectively. The students were taught technical skills as well as organisational measures to prevent the spread of damages during attacks, which include instructions for staff and sharing of information with related institutions.

In April 2015, Thailand's MDES and Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) had expanded their existing cyber security cooperation to further efforts in ICT infrastructure protection. Japan will contribute to cyber security in Thailand through provision of technology.

In the same year, NEC provided hands-on cyber defence training for government agencies in Thailand in collaboration with the MIC and the Embassy of Japan.
