Light sensor automates car's LCD control

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has introduced a photodiode-based ambient light sensor in a compact 0805-sized surface-mount package. The new TEMD6200FX01 reacts to light like the human eye to allow automatic control of LCD brightness and keypad backlighting, and to enable automotive safety and driver comfort features.
