Publishing 2.0: EE Times-Asia gets new look and feel
In this digital age we continue to rely heavily on traditional medial formats, why is that?
Higher-frequency sampling rates on slick digital audio systems might improve our listening experience, but will that ever replace the excitement of a live event? Perhaps not, and nor in our estimation will an online network replace your need to meet your peers or experts face-to-face at industry events.
We believe in a world of differing information needs, everything has its place. And it seems that the most tried and trusted media format of them all, the printed word, retains an important place in your daily work.
Perhaps you participated in our global media usage study last year? We asked engineers like you about the media you use most regularly for work. You responded in unison with one unequivocal answer: print magazines.
Should we be surprised? After all each of us has grown up with a book or a magazine in our hands and grown accustomed to their readability. But it also seems that credibility of information is a factor in your usage. Now that's a fact that is important to us here at EE Times-Asia.
Since we last redesigned this publication in March 2006, we have made a number of refinements to content and presentation.
Our objective as always is to improve your reading experience, and along the road of change we discovered the importance of physical attributes like portability, graphic impact, and even optimized column formatting; these all play a critical role in improving this publication's value.
Evolution allows only the fittest to survive, and that's why you hold a brand new EE Times-Asia in your hands—we've listened to your needs, redesigned, adapted and made some significant improvements.
The first and most noticeable improvement is to the magazine's dimensions. You should find it a lot easier to handle and read, especially if you're traveling. But the real gem in the new design is the look and feel that brings with it simplified navigation.
You still get all the great features and content drawn from our combined editorial expertise, contributed material as well as the latest market intelligence.
Turn to page one and you read all about the most important current events in the News section, and that comes with our perspective on what it means to you. You'll also hear from the people that matter, the gurus and industry leaders in our Interview section.
Building Block, Analog, Teardown, Spotlight and Design Corner sections will continue to bring you design insights on hot issues.
Let us know what you think about EE Times-Asia's new look and feel.
