Keywords:Raspberry Pi  module  compute  development kit

Raspberry Pi enjoys a popularity attributed to the sales of over three million units worldwide, due to its low cost, high performance and stable support package. The significant interest in using the board in industrial and embedded applications paved the way for the development of the compute module development kit, which offers the benefits of Raspberry Pi in a flexible form factor.

The development kit includes a compute module and an IO board. The compute module integrates the BCM2835 chip featuring a 512MB RAM with an on board 4GB eMMC Flash memory for booting the OS, housed in in 6.5cm by 3cm SODIMM package. The IO board, meanwhile, supports an extensive GPIO and multiple connectors to help foster rapid prototype development with access to all of the BCM2835 functionality.

It features support for custom hardware and software solutions, which facilitates the use of a dedicated hardware design created by an engineer, while still providing all of the power of a fully functional Linux application server to perform the analysis and computational tasks necessary to manage and self-diagnose the industrial solution.

The development kit costs $240.70. elemen14 also provides data sheets and application notes, which can be downloaded from their website.
