GiDEL has launched boards that bring together the OpenCL programming model and Altera's parallel FPGA architecture for high-performance computing applications.

The ProceV is a PCIe Gen3 x8 based platform supporting Stratix V GX/GS FPGAs. OpenCL allows engineers to write programs in C/C++ or OpenCL C that execute across heterogeneous computing platforms such as CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, and FPGAs and extract parallelism from that code.

Engineers with basic hardware knowledge can utilise the Altera software development kit for OpenCL, which abstracts the standard hardware development flow for FPGAs for deployment on Stratix V-based GiDEL platforms.

The company's FPGA-based Proc boards boast superior performance at ultra-low power consumption. The Proc boards are designed for high performance and maximal flexibility to meet application-specific needs in supercomputing applications. A Proc board was featured in Novo-G, said to be the world's most powerful reconfigurable supercomputer, which won the 2012 Schwarzkopf prize.
