FTDI incorporates EVE into display dev't platform
FTDI Chip has unveiled a series of development platforms that can be programmed via the Arduino IDE, and extends system integration by providing over 50 EVE sample applications to create HMI solutions with display, audio and touch functionalities for 3.5", 4.3" or 5" colour TFT displays.
The VM800P 'Plus' incorporates the following chips: EVE graphic controller chip for three in one operation—display, audio and touch; USB UART interface IC ; and inbuilt microcontroller running at 16MHz.
The modules can be programmed and configured using a pre-programmed Arduino-compatible bootloader. It features a hi-quality system with a bezel that provides a resistive touch panel sensor and component board in a rugged, plastic enclosure.
The modules have a USB serial port for firmware upload and application communication, a battery-backed real time clock for carrying out system timing and a micro-SD socket which is complemented by a 4GB SD card containing the pre-loaded sample applications. These Arduino-compatible display system development platforms run off a standard 5V which can be delivered via a micro-USB cable or directly from an external supply.
Other features include: a backlit LED driver, inbuilt audio amplifier and micro-speaker, Real Time Clock (RTC) with battery backup, on-board 3.3v/5v level shifters, e-Flash IC build option. The modules are pre-loaded with 11 interactive application demonstrations and one library of free running apps.
The platforms run off a standard 5V, delivered via a micro-USB or an auxiliary power connector. They are provided with Micro-MaTch miniature connectors to further extend functionality, and plug in card connectors are available to expand the IO capability to include GPIO, RS232, RS422, RS485 and Ethernet, promoting improved connectivity and the ability to transmit over longer distances.
The VM800P integrates a graphic controller IC, USB UART interface IC, and 16MHz MCU.
