FreeWave Technologies has announced its WavePoint platform that the company said allows fast, flexible and secure wireless M2M capabilities for industrial wireless networking. The solution communicates industrial data over long distances, enabling M2M, broadband and SCADA apps, added the company.

By extending broadband connectivity to remote locations, and doing so securely, the company's enterprise customers can now choose frequencies and network deployment capabilities that fit a number of application scenarios.

The platform supports any network infrastructure enabling remote video access, multiple Ethernet and serial devices can run simultaneously, and the solution either eliminates or consolidates T-1/E-1 and DS3 access circuits while providing a plug-and-play format.

WavePoint supports up to four wireless OFDM broadband modules per unit and operates in the 900MHz, 2.4GHz and 5GHz ISM and U-NI bands with options for 3G and WiFi. It can be easily integrated with existing LANs and WANs, protecting existing investment while securely expanding remote capabilities.

It allows customers to deploy multiple network elements including wired network access, cellular backhaul, local area communications, high-speed backbone, WiFi Hotspot access, and mobile mesh networking and do it on one platform.

According to the company, the solution is fast and easy to deploy, provides for upgradeability and a quick return on investment.
