Xilinx, LRDA streamline safety compliance with platform
The integration of the LDRA tool suite into the Xilinx Zync 7000 platform leverages the LDRA structural coverage and standards compliance tools to optimise the Zync 7000 boot loader and device driver codes for applications that require certification, compliance, and functional safety.
It was only recently that the company released its tool suite with the LDRA Compliance Management System (LCMS) to provide a proper infrastructure enabling ISO 26262 compliance. The LCMS walks customers through the fully compliant plans, document and transition checklists, standards and other lifecycle documents, and problem reports to help customers manage software planning, development, verification, and regulatory activities of ISO 26262 Part 6, Product Development: Software Level.
In addition to ISO 26262, using the tool suite with Zync SoC developments helps ensure compliance with other relevant industry standards including DO-178 and IEC 61508.
The LDRA-Xilinx partnership is expected to add value for the safety-critical application developer who must prove compliance of the final end-system to auditors. The platform should allow easy integration of data from the hardware platform into the verification process required for the application software.
"Approaching the safety-critical market with the hardware platform already compliance-ready, whether for the avionics DO-178C, automotive ISO 26262, industrial IEC 61508 or other standards, streamlines the compliance management process and significantly decreases costs," said LDRA operations director Ian Hennell.
