Speculations about Apple developing a bezel-free iPhone display have been circulating since the company's flexible OLED display patent application came out.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published the application labelled 'Flexible Displays' on February 13. Techniques to reduce the border on the display by bending the sides of the display surface were described in the said patent. Such a technique could be applied to future generations of iPhones and iPads as well as wearable devices such as the iWatch.

Apple is rumoured to be testing a bezel-free screen and a fingerprint recognition capability. Samsung is believed to include similar features in the company's next smartphone Galaxy S5 that could be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain.
