JM Energy puts in $60M in high-volume Li-ion capacitor prod'n
JM Energy Corp., a JSR Corp. subsidiary focusing on lithium ion capacitors technology (LIC), has announced its plans to invest $60 million to add a 8400m2 high-volume production plant with a capacity of three million cells per year. The plant is scheduled to begin operation by January 2015 with first customer shipments to begin in June 2015.
JM Energy's LIC is an asymmetric capacitor delivering a high power density, high energy density and a high operating voltage. The company's ULTIMO series offers low resistance benefits and claims an extremely small internal energy loss during charge-and-discharge.
The high-volume production plant will be equipped with voltage sag compensators, automatic guided vehicles (AGV) and a green energy sourced outdoor lighting system, which all will use JM Energy's ULTIMO technology.
JM Energy is also to begin marketing the company's small ULTIMO flat prismatic-type cells that are less than half the volume of its existing flat prismatic-types. The cells will target growing market demand in the construction, industrial machinery and automotive application sectors. The cell design is geared for applications that have limited space for the installation of additional power systems.
The plant will be capable of manufacturing all existing prismatic types as well as the small flat prismatic cell.
