A 2Mpixel version of the device, which features dual 'true global' and rolling shutter modes, is expected to be sampling early next year.
Dubbed the EV76C560 , the first in the family is targeted for industrial machine vision, barcode scanning, surveillance and other demanding imaging applications, where optimal low-light performance or very short integration times are necessary.
The 1280 x 1024 imager comprises 5.3µpixel with an architecture that assures high efficiency global shuttering (3000:1) while maintaining excellent quantum efficiency.
It outputs full resolution images in a 10bit parallel format at 60fps and with the ability to switch 'on the fly' to a true 4T electronic rolling shutter mode, allows the SNR performance to be customized.
In addition to the size and position of each window, the device offers designers control of the integration time, gain, sub-sampling, repetition rate and other uniquely configured parameters; rather like having up to four different sensors under the same lens.
Gareth Powell, marketing manager of e2v's industrial imaging group said the company has received great feedback from tests on initial sample devices by its partners and customers.
