RJ-45 plug-in connector works with Fast, Gigabit Ethernet
With the new RJ-45 modular plug for field assembly, Tyco Electronics Ltd has introduced an RJ-45 plug-in connector for Fast and Gigabit Ethernet. Designed for a transmission rate from 100Mbit/s (4-pin) to 1,000Mbit/s (8-pin), it is ideal for industrial automation and thereby suitable for Ethernet systems such as SafetyNET p.
The plug-in connector is designed with quick-connect technology in accordance with the common core principle, thereby enabling simple, time-saving and yet reliable installation. The common core principle means that the connector core is integrated into a range of housing types. Interfaces with IP20 to IP65/67 protection can be implemented based on this intelligent connector platform, bringing considerable user benefits and low equipment costs.
These innovative connectors are also used in conventional, Ethernet-based automation and network technology. Increasing pressure on both time and price, high wage costs and indirect labor costs, smaller loads and intense competition all demand ever higher productivity. That means the installation time for the control technology gets ever shorter. At the same time, it's important to guarantee high availability for the production plants. Tyco Electronics offers an extensive product range that includes active and passive components for Industrial Ethernet:
• Modular RJ-45 connector for field installation with quick-connect technology in IP20-IP65/67;
• Fast and Gigabit Ethernet switches from the TES series, in a compact, rugged design;
• Media converter (copper <-> FO) from the TEC series;
• Device server (serial <-> Ethernet) from the TED series for RS 232/422/485;
• Fiber-optic patch cable;
• Industrial Ethernet cable and tools;
• Cable assemblies.
Overall wiring concepts from Tyco Electronics aim to ensure that cable connections can be installed both safely and cost-effectively. Manual installation work in the field is reduced to a minimum. The objective of Tyco Electronics is to continue to develop this market trend and set new standards.
