Avago Technologies has introduced an enhanced mainstream small-form-factor optical mouse sensor that has been optimized for LED-based corded mouse applications. The compact ADNS-5050 is a user-friendly mouse sensor that includes several built-in features and enhanced tracking performance.

The mainstream ADNS-5050 is capable of high-speed motion detection at 30inches per second (ips) and acceleration of up to 8g. It also provides an on-chip oscillator and built-in LED driver to minimize external components, and a frame rate that can be adjusted internally for optimum performance. The resolution of the sensor can be adjusted from 125 to 1375 counts per inch (cpi) via a 125cpi step to provide mouse manufacturers with the flexibility to configure their mice to meet a variety of application requirements.

This compact mouse sensor is a drop-in replacement for Avago's ADNS-5020-EN mouse sensor, providing an upgrade path from Avago's entry-level mouse products. In addition, precision optical alignment is not required, making the ADNS-5050 easy to install and suitable for high-volume assembly.

The ADNS-5050 optical mouse sensor along with the ADNS-5100/5100-001 lens, ADNS-5200 clip and HLMP-ED80 LED light source form a complete and compact mouse tracking system. This compact optical mouse sensor is suitable for use in optical mice, optical trackballs and integrated input devices. The device is Pb-free and RoHS compliant.

Pricing is less than $1 each in high volume.
