Integrated Microelectronics Inc. (IMI) showcases its ZigBee Gateway platform, a low-power low-cost short-range wireless mesh networking technology at this week's Wireless Japan 2007 Expo.

IMI's Zigbee Gateway platform provides a seamless interface between a Zigbee-based network and the Internet. PoE is also offered as an option. The solution also provides connectivity through an RS-232 or RS-485 port. It organizes, controls and monitors a wireless sensor network (WSN), enabling access to the WSN from practically anywhere using a PC, cellphone, PDA or any mobile device with Internet access.

IMI's Zigbee Gateway platform enables various applications for system integrators and other users. IMI bundles HW/SW development kits with its platform, enabling the system integrator to easily design IMI's gateway into its own application. IMI's platform can be used for monitoring and control applications including industry, home and building automation, supermarket application, automatic meter reading and WSN.

Integrated in IMI's ZigBee Gateway platform is the IMI-Z-GW-001 802.15.4/ZigBee wireless engine based on Jennic's JN5139 chip and ARM9-based processor powered by Linux 2.6 OS. The gateway has various peripherals: 10/100-base TX Ethernet, RS-232, RS-485 and TTL level GPIO ports.

The radio front-end operates on 16 ZigBee channels in the 2.4GHz ISM band for a wireless communication data rate of 250Kbps.
