AMOLED suits mobile TV, multimedia phones
MagnaChip Semiconductor Ltd launches its optimized active matrix OLED (AMOLED) solution, designed for use in the displays of high performance mobile phones. The solution supports WQVGA, 240x432 resolution and 262,000 colors.
The product meets the specific requirements of display panels for mobile TV phones and multimedia phones. Embedded with EEPROM, it controls RGB gamma, oscillator frequency and internal power. The MDDI interface of Qualcomm allows for high-speed data transmission.
The AMOLED solution also offers longer battery life, due to a special feature that adjusts screen brightness automatically. The solution also offers an RGB-separated gamma adjustment, which provides superior, stable color display and produces more natural still images and video images.
"We decided to introduce this new AMOLED product since market demand is growing for video files and high resolution Mobile TV," said Davis Mok, VP of marketing in MagnaChip's Display Solutions Division. "In today's market, AMOLED is seen to be an optimal technology not only for small and medium display applications, but also for larger display applications, as it offers rapid response time, wide view angles, and distinctive resolution even in bright environments."
The product will be ready for mass production this month.
