Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. filed a patent infringement suit in the United States against Renesas Technology Corp. and the latter's U.S. unit, according to an APreport.

Samsung alleged Renesas infringed a patent of a memory-chip production technology. A Renesas official said that the Japanese company is looking into details and is prepared to argue the case in court. Meanwhile, a Samsung spokeswoman confirmed that a suit has been filed but refused to provide details.

According to the complaint filed May 4 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, Samsung is seeking permanent injunction and retraining Renesas and its subsidiaries from making, selling and importing into the United States any product that violates two Samsung patents.

Back in January, documents showed that Renesas filed two separated cases against Samsung in the same court, alleging the latter of violating patent related to DRAM technology.
