LG.Philips LCD to enter AMOLED mass production
Optoelectronics maker LG.Philips LCD Co. Ltd will be mass-producing active matrix (AM) organic light emitting diode (OLED) as the company completes equipment acquisition and installment at its facilities.
LG.Philips LCD has sent out a Letter of Intent (LoI) for AMOLED mass production to begin operations. The LoI for equipment specifies a second-generation level, 370-by-47mm for AMOLED mass production, and the purchase was slated to push through by the third quarter of the year. The company plans to commence manufacturing of small- and medium-sized AMOLEDs by next year.
Last year, LG.Philips LCD introduced its 20in AMOLED, claimed to be the largest single substrate at that time at the FPD International Trade Show in Japan.
