Synopsys' DesignWare passes PCI-SIG compliance tests
Synopsys Inc. announced that its DesignWare endpoint controller IP core for PCI Express has passed the compliance tests conducted by the PCI-SIG. According to the company, designers using Synopsys' DesignWare Core for PCI Express are expected to have increased confidence that the IP will work seamlessly with any design based on the PCI Express standard. The DesignWare endpoint controller core for PCI Express incorporates the transaction layer, data link layer and physical layer of the PCI Express protocol into a synthesizable core and is designed to work with physical layers (PHYs) that comply with the PIPE interface standard, including the recently announced PCI Express PHY from Synopsys.
Advance verification technology and methodology while designing the DesignWare Core for PCI Express was a critical factor in passing all of the compliance tests quickly says Synopsys. This approach included using the DesignWare verification IP (VIP) for PCI Express architecture to verify the endpoint controller core, and an FPGA hardware add-in card for compliance and interoperability testing. The hardware add-in card is configured as a 10/100 Ethernet application for testing in PCI Express architecture-based systems and uses a daughter card to enable interoperability testing of the DesignWare Core for PCI Express with PIPE compliant PHYs.
