Computer Access Technology Corp. (CATC) has announced that it is upgrading its Verisys SV-8320 SCSI bus analyzer with the release of the SCSI-View 5.0 software that provides full packetized protocol support and hastens the adoption of the Ultra320 SCSI technology.

Available free of charge to existing Verisys SV-8320 users, the software allows users a logical view of the sequencing within the Ultra320's Information Unit (IU) transfers. The SV-8320's Phase View function then decodes the IU into LQ packets, commands, and data.

The software also provides clear delineation of packet structures, including training sequences, and pacing data. It also monitors Ultra320 entities and gathers statistics including factor of merits and packet read/write times.

Ultra320 improves on SCSI technology by doubling the signal speed to deliver a data transfer rate of 320MB and offers reduced overhead by combining commands, data, and status within Dual Transition data phase transfers.
