Recruitment, pay issues highlight 2002 survey

Asia's electronics engineers are still looking for the proverbial light at the end of tunnel as a prolonged economic downturn continues to hound the global electronics industry. Last year's forecast of a 2002 recovery has long been forgotten, and companies are bracing themselves from the impact of the accounting scandals that have rocked Wall Street. On the other hand, the continued exodus of multinational electronic manufacturers to mainland China as well as India and Taiwan's efforts to strengthen their respective IC design sectors have somewhat intensified the recruitment of electronic engineers in Asia.
