Wi-LAN, Fujitsu Micro to codevelop SoC for wireless apps
Fujitsu Microelectronics America Inc. and Wi-LAN Inc. have partnered to codevelop SoCs aimed for broadband wireless applications.
Under the terms of the nonexclusive agreement, Wi-LAN will combine its expertise in Wideband Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (W-OFDM) technology with FMA's ASIC design capabilities to integrate embedded processors and mixed-signal technology into SoCs. This new development program will create a broadband wireless-access subscriber-station device for a wide range of business and individual users.
Wi-LAN's experience with broadband wireless systems is expected to will help drive development of optimal, high-performance products. On the other hand, with its expertise in processor integration, IPWare cores and high-performance mixed signal, FMA will be responsible for putting together all the IP cores needed for these complex SoCs, and for delivering working, cost-effective solutions that reduce time to market for its customers.
