Nippon Steel, ThyssenKrupp forge electrical steel collaboration
Nippon Steel Corp., ThyssenKrupp Steel AG, and ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel GmbH have signed an electrical steel collaboration agreement to further expand their more than thirty years of technical alliance into a broader and more comprehensive collaboration in the field of grain oriented and non grain oriented electrical steel. Electrical steels are used to manufacture transformers, generators and electric motors.
Under the agreement, the companies will set up a steering committee to begin studies on specific themes for cooperation. The results of the work will contribute to both companies, but will be marketed separately.
With this collaboration, the companies aim to reduce costs and lead time of R&D as well as further develop production processes for these products.
